PROJECT 3: ART GALLERY, SHOP/HOUSE

My main intension for the design of the gallery was to create a dominant and striking building which corresponded to its location. The exterior of the building was to form an expression of art but still maintaining a neutral interior as the art works and sculptures are the central key element

The building has strong connections with the surrounding environment. The main idea was the collision of the major roads and transport systems, which is reflected in the columns on the ground level of the gallery that mark out the intersecting points of the roads.

Also the facade of the building is closely linked to its surrounding buildings as detailed elevation studies were made to formulate the facade proportions and the levels of the gallery.
