Conveys the colission of the major road system which surrounds the site of the gallery.

Floor Plan Level 1 Gallery Entrance and Public Space

The bottom level has remained as a public space where people can continue to use the site a walk way between King st and the back roads. The art gallery has been elevated and the ground level acts as a public viewing space for large outdoor sculptures. Also the locations of the columns represent the surrounding road maps and the colission of the roads and railway which runs under King st and Enmore rd.

Floor Plan Level 2 Gallery Space

This level is the main gallery space were all the art works of local Sydney artist are displayed. Also on this level is a indoor outdoor enclosed courtyard which has a perminant sculpture display by Henry Moore.

Floor Plan Level 3 Living and Entertainment

The top level of the gallery is fitted with a combined kitchen which opens out to the large living and entertainment room were exibitions and function gatherings can be held. Also the private rooms of the young couple that own the gallery are on the top level which consists of a large bedroom that overlooks and opens up to the top level court yard, a bathroom and a office.

PROJECT 2: ROOM AND NARRATIVE

NARRATIVE

"Unsettling tension between the two figures, who are clearly aware, but do not acknowledge each other's presence"

The idea that I received from the painting was the tension between the man and woman. There is little communication between the figures suggesting the lack of emotional interaction in much of modern life. The unsettling relationship between the two figures in the painting then became the two forms of architecture that came together in a disconcerting way.

Also the relationship between the new and old was played on as from the painting we get a glimpse of the building in the background which is a traditional classical city building. Edward Hooper talked about modern life and how it has changed the way we interact in society, so this was taken and manipulated to create a modern looking and shaped building that sits between two traditional city scapes building also causing tension between the new and old facades.
